The Chamberlayne Bed is based on an impressive antique four-poster bed that Max bought in 1998 at the Sotheby’s house sale that followed the dispersal of the estate of The Chamberlayne Family of Stoneythorpe Hall, Warwickshire.

Dating back to 1765, the original was crafted in mahogany but there were still signs of the Toile de Jouy that had been glued to its cornice. It’s for this reason that we give the option of either a tight-upholstered cornice, as per the antique original, or a painted one.

Details

Solid American black walnut posts, polished to an antique mahogany finish.*
Side rails in tulipwood with solid walnut facings.
Hand-painted tulipwood cornice.
Traditionally upholstered headboard.
Headboard requires 2.5 metres of fabric (plain and standard width).
Made to order in the UK.
