A new design for 2024, the Ferguson Sofa is based on a Regency sofa of peculiarly generous proportions that Max bought from a Reverend Ferguson in the 1990s. The original sofa was caned: here the lightness of the bergère style is preserved but the vulnerable cane work is replaced by upholstered panels, lending a softer finish.
The solid beech frame is hand built with turned legs to the front and splayed legs to the rear, then ebonised using traditional techniques and products, the same as are used on our antique furniture. The sides and un-sprung seat are traditionally upholstered, with seat cushion hair wrapped to give the feel of the original but with a latex core for little added 21st century comfort.
