It was a rare Edinburgh maker’s chair, circa 1780, that would become the starting point for the Scottish Ottoman. Having templated the unique turning of the chair’s front legs and adjoining stretcher, Max was able to redraw the profiles proportionally to the desired size and scale of an ottoman.
The show wood polished to emulate the original chair’s mahogany finish, close-nailed studs at each knee complete the traditional upholstery, as was typical of eighteenth-century designs.
