The Thomas Chair is inspired by a Chippendale piece found at Paxton House, a fine Palladian house on the banks of the River Tweed. Little of the original upholstery remains on Chippendale’s ‘Easy Chair’, revealing its pleasing architecture – but it was ultimately the foliate painted leg detail that caught Max’s eye.
In homage, our skilled craftsperson recreates the motif by hand for the Bespoke Thomas Chair. The curved arm mimics that of the original, but the back and wings are of more restrained proportion, creating a seat that is comfortable and enveloping but with a more contemporary silhouette.
Available with a choice of three painted leg designs – plain, contrast stripe, and foliate – and your choice of fabric.
