North of England

In the words of our client, "The house was built by successive generations of the our family who bought it and the surrounding land in a coal speculation in 1804 - a speculation that rather spectacularly failed. The house is a classic Victorian melange of additions that does not add up to anything very special architecturally, but from its large sash windows you look on to some of the most uplifting scenery in England."

Our brief is to refresh and rejuvenate the formal areas of this house that have been somewhat neglected in recent years.  We are sensitively restoring the beautiful parquet floors, the joinery and some of the family's furniture and of course supplying carefully chosen antiques to fit the scale of the project, all following a strict budget.  We will use colours, fabrics and patterns that work with the existing wallpapers that date back to the 1950s, to bring renewed joy and comfort back to this characterful home.
