An ingeniously adaptable George III mahogany architect's table. The double-ratcheted, linen-covered top over one long working drawer and two long dummy drawers, as well as a single working and a single false drawer to each end. The top can be positioned according to need, to give a working surface for use while sitting or standing at the desk. The whole raised on square chamfered legs with leather castors and with fretwork bracket decoration. Circa 1770.
