Set of Nine Late-18th Century Piedmont Cloth of Gold Chair Covers

A set of nine late-eighteenth century Italian chair covers, complete with both seats and backs of generous proportions. The cloth of gold grounds applied with scrolling crimson velvet appliqué foliage and couched cord trim.

Originally the property of Princess Maria Gabriella of Savoy, these seat covers were likely taken from the Castello Reale di Sarre, the favourite retreat of Umberto II, last King of Italy.

The backs: 79cm high x 63cm wide, the seats: 65cm deep x 83cm wide
